Nestled by the infinity pool is Tara, their open roof top Japanese restaurant and lounge - a perfect setting under the stars to unwind with your friends and folks. You can relish handpicked delights from the Teppenyaki grill and diverse spread of Sushi, Sashimi and Nigiri immaculately plated from the menu curated by Head Chef Paul Jhon Abayan.
The setting is peaceful and the ambience is beautiful and Tara almost makes you feel like you are away from the hustle bustle of the city. The dim lighting, the soft jazz music and the cool breeze just adds to the beauty of Tara.
We started our evening with a couple of non alcoholic drinks which were as beautiful as they were tasty.
Borrito was a beautiful concoction of blueberry, coffee, mint, lime & ginger ale.
Longest Sunset was an unusual but absolutely delightful combination of pumpkin, orange, lime, white peach & tonic
Apple tease was a fruity combination of earl grey, jasmine, green apple & vanilla
Devil's Tongue named after the blood red colour of the drink was made of betroot puree, ginger, jaggery & ginger ale
The starters that we tried included the Fried Calamari with Tartar sauce & Shrimp Popcorn with Yuzu salt. The calamari was not chewy and was prepared perfectly. The shrimp popcorn was perfectly cooked and the light seasoned batter was very flavourful.
Since Tara is a Japanese restaurant we obviously had to try the Sushi. The Spicy Tuna Tempura which was soft, juicy and a gastronomic delight. The Chicken Maki sushi had all the right flavours but was a little dry.
We were so impressed with the starters and the Sushi that we went a little overboard and ordered the grilled lobster and the Salmon Teriyaki. Bot the dishes were absolute perfection and I cannot think of a single flaw in these dishes.
The Grilled Lobster doused in shiso ponzu butter was flavourful and delectable. The Salmon Teriyaki which was a huge filet of Salmon served with steamed sticky rice and teriyaki sauce was lovely and exquisite.
Moving on to dessert, we tried the Ancient cheesecake with frozen raspberry which was very palatable but a little dry.
The Black Hole which was a mouth watering combination of chocolate nut slice, caramel ice cream and oodles of chocolate sauce was just pure indulgence.
Tara is definitely my favourite Japanese restaurant in the city now and I feel that the quality of food, service and hospitality is par excellence. It is very rare that we visit places which turn out to be as good as Tara is. The experience is just phenomenal.
You should visit today and I assure you that you will have a fantastic time!
