Sushi Haus, Gurgaon
Sushi has always been one of those food items that I have been scared of trying. I know my father and husband love Sushi and my mother hates it. So I did not want to go either way and remained neutral by never trying Sushi for a really long time.
My only concern was that if the smell, quality and the taste of the raw fish was not good, it would spoil Sushi for me completely.
Skeptical but eager, I recently tried Sushi at a restaurant and loved it. Since then I have wanted to try more varieties but have not had the time to. When we were asked if we could do a review for Sushi Haus my wish was granted!
Ashish, the owner, is extremely courteous and a true gentleman. He understood our taste by speaking to us on the phone and sent us 4 beautiful boxes of Sushi- 2 vegetarian and 2 non vegetarian.
The food was delivered on time as promised and the pretty boxes with neat labels and the well packed Sushi was a visual delight.
In addition to the pretty boxes, the fifth box containing chopsticks and wet wipes just sprung up the delivery experience to a new high !
We hogged on 4 types each of the Vegetarian and the Non vegetarian Sushi which are each served with wasabi, soy cause and extremely thin slices of ginger.
Vegetarian
Avocado Maki
The simple combination of Avocado and cream cheese was straightforward and delicious- just what Sushi should be. The Avocado was not as bitter as we expected and combined with the cream cheese was extremely appetizing.
The Crunchy Mushroom made of button mushrooms, mayo and shichimi was delectable and extremely enjoyable. This was my favourite of the vegetarian Sushi.
The Veggie California Made of Asparagus, pickled radish and carrot was delicate and palatable and the Asparagus Tempura loaded with Asparagus & Mayo and topped with sesame seeds was exquisite! The sesame seeds brought some texture and crunch to the sushi. Oh yumm! Gautam was extremely pleased with the fact that Sushi Haus has a wide varietyof Vegetarian Sushi and kept moaning with delight with each bite he took!
Non Vegetarian
The Red Dragon roll looked beautiful with the fish on the top and prawn and avocado stuffed in the centre and was extremely flavoursome. The fear of eating raw fish just disappeared with every bite .
The Zen Roll with the sweet tuna, spicy mayo and prawn tempura was my favourite!
Made of all my favourite ingredients, this one hit all the high notes of my palate.
The Spicy Salmon Roll was topped with the spicy mayo and spring onion and was filled with tanuki and salmon. Om nom nom! With each piece I just cursed myself for not having tried Sushi earlier. I had missed out on soo much!
The last was the Prawn Tempura roll made of Prawn, mayo and topped with Sesame seeds. The balance of flavours in each of the rolls was commendable. None of the flavours over powered the other ingredients.
You can also order the Bento Box containing a veg/non veg main course of your choice, sticky rice, home made pickle , a veg/non veg appetizer or you can call them for a customized bento box too!
In case you are hosting a few people, you can also order the Sushi Platter of 20, 40 or 60 pieces or choose from a variety of veg/non veg Maki, Nigiri & Sashimi to create your own platter
Sushi Haus has definitely hit a home run with the Sushi rolls and its fresh ingredients and has us wanting more. With the delightful delivery experience, attention to detail and amazing customer service, we will definitely be ordering more Sushi in the days to come.
