The Vault Cafe, CP
A vault is usually a secure space where money and valuables are stored and are usually built in a way that they have a huge door with a complex lock. The Vault Cafe has used this simple concept and turned it into a fabulous Multicuisine restaurant.
As you open the doors to the Vault Cafe, you will find yourself in a dimly lit space with yellow and pink lighting, walls designed with exposed bricks and vault designs and loud thumping music. Situated at the main entrance of the inner circle, The Vault Cafe, as the name suggests, offers five separate vaults for a private and royal experience. In addition to this, there is enough space for you to lounge in the open space outdoors or opt for the dining experience indoors.Though it is usually termed as a casual dining restaurant, the rustic yet modern interiors boast of sleek couches, comfy chairs, old heritage clocks and treasure boxes. The place is always crowded with people enjoying the delicacies along with the Vault Special cocktails.
The food menu is vast and consists of options for everyone. The one good thing in the menu is that there are enough options for vegetarians as well. Whether you want to have street food or more traditional Indian, Italian, Thai or any other cuisine , The Vault cafe has numerous options to keep your every food lover happy.
We began our evening with two of the Vault special Cocktails- Vault No. 1857 and the Moscow Mule.
The Moscow Mule is a Vodka based drink which consists of ginger ale and lime juice topped with ginger beer air served in a chic cone shaped holder. The drink itself was slightly sweet with a hint of ginger and the Ginger beer air on top made the drink more appealing visually.
The Vault No. 1857 is again a Vodka based drink and consists of cardamom, vanilla syrup, pineapple juice and lime juice and is served in a container with vanilla air on top. The drink was slightly bitter and the taste of cardamom was a little over powering.
The BBQ onion rings and the Crispy Broccoli, Corn and Mushroom were served next. I usually do not like onion rings or the dips that are served at other restaurants. But at The Vault Cafe, I fell in love with onion rings. The onions were sweet and tender and the outer coating was crisp and well seasoned and the BBQ sauce served with it- oh my god! was soo good that I couldn't keep myself from having more and more. I am totally a fan of the BBQ Onion rings at The vault Cafe!
The Crispy Broccoli, Corn and Mushroom was well cooked, crispy and was not oily at all. The veggies were perfect- crispy on the outside and soft and fresh on the inside. The portion was large enough for 4 people easily.
Next in line was the Mint and Lemon chicken. The chicken was soft in texture, well cooked and pre dominantly tasted of lemon more than mint. A great appetizer with a portion size large enough for 3-4 people.
We were then served three types of of extremely juicy, soft and delicious dimsums, each served with 5 types of dips. The Spicy chicken and ginger dumpling and the Chicken with fresh red chillies and scallion dumpling were slightly spicy as compared to the Prawn and Chive dumpling and so automatically became my favourites!
The Spicy chicken and ginger dumpling
The Prawn and chive dumpling
The Chicken with fresh red chillies and scallion dumpling
I must specially appreciate the effort taken into the presentation of the Chicken with fresh red chillies and scallion dumpling . It was very nice to see that the chef had put in the effort to make it look pretty with the small slices of red chillies on the top.
We were already stuffed when we were served the last two savoury dishes of the evening- The Non Veg Tandoori Trail and the Prawns Fresh Red Chilli but we couldn't stop ourselves from trying them. The Tandoori Trail consisted of well cooked chicken, mutton and fish with the aroma of the herbs used in the preparation along with the slight char from the Tandoor it was cooked in.
The Prawns Fresh Red chilli on the other hand was spicy, soft and sooo delicious! Omnomnom... i could have more of this every single day!
With so much food in our system, we just had to try another drink before we could head for dessert. So we ordered the Long Beach Iced Tea. The drink, which is a classic combination of the five white spirits topped with sweet and sour and cranberry juice was served in a wooden chest of sorts. An innovative presentation which I have not seen anywhere else in the city. The drink was not only tasty but also very potent.
We ended the evening on a high with the creamy blueberry cheesecake and Tiramisu.
We could not have asked for a better way to end the evening.
The Vault Cafe is definitely one of the best cafe's in the area and is a must visit for food lovers looking to eat, drink, enjoy and be merry.
