Ping's Café Orient, Lodhi Colony

Ping's Café Orient is tucked away in a corner of the bustling Lodhi Colony market. With glow signs, the restaurant seems like a street food outlet instead of a a really cosy & comfortable restaurant.
The interiors are soothing with red and black walls, wooden upholstered chairs, dim lights and coloured bulbs hanging over the tables. All tables have a old fashioned switch attached to the wall right next to the table which is used to summon the server by lighting up the bulb hanging above the table *Ping!* .

The menu is extensive and the cocktail menu is equally interesting. The staff is polite and really takes care of you. We were there quite late on a Saturday and were pleasantly surprised to see a lot of people walk into the restaurant even at 4 p.m. A lazy saturday calls for a round of cocktails and so we ordered our dose of happiness which had bourbon mixed with home made Star Anise and Ginger Syrup, Lemon Juice topped with Soda - Ma-Collins.

Since we are trying to eat healthy, we ordered the Chicken minced salad as well. The salad consisting of minced chicken with mint, paprika and roasted rice was devoured in no time. Who knew chicken salad could be this good! If I get salads like these everyday, I will happily lose some weight.

With the drinks also arrived the mouth watering and delicious Spicy chicken dumplings with chilli oil. Though the number of dimsums were less, the appetizing flavours totally made up the lack of more dimsums.

The Pork Char Sui Bao arrived next. Melt in the mouth chunks of Pork cooked to perfection served with fresh greens and a lovely peanut dip was a gastronomic delight. I could have this all day and night.

Since we were already stuffed with the starters, we ordered the simple Nasi Goreng thinking that it would not be very elaborate. But we were surprised again . Juicy pieces of pork cooked to perfection served with Pork fried rice topped with a fried egg with a side of prawn crackers - heavenly goodness.

The Japanese style cheesecake which is very different from the western style cheesecake and has fewer calories. You may never go back to the western style cheesecake once you have tasted this.

The next time you head out for a solo meal, a romantic date, a meal with friends or family dinner you should head to Ping's without a doubt!
