Khaaja Chowk, Gurgaon
We haven't ordered Indian food in a while. We have been obsessed with trying out new things everywhere . New dishes, new cuisines, new restaurants and also because we end up cooking Indian dishes at home all the time, we hardly order Indian food.
It was late Friday night and I was working on a proposal . I switched on the TV for a bit and, flipping through all the food channels, realised that I was hungry. I fixed myself a sandwich and decided that we would order Indian food for lunch. What was I craving? Every vegetarians comfort food - Paneer tikka and Dal makhani.
As soon as i woke up on Saturday, I started looking for restaurants that would deliver Indian food at home for lunch. After browsing through the menu's of atleast 15 restaurants, I finally decided that we would order from Khaaja Chowk.
The door bell rang and we were opened our doors to the delivery gentleman who was extremely courteous and greeted us with a huge smile! The food arrived warm in neatly packed boxes. One box containing the non veg food and one with the veg food. Inside each of these boxes, were sealed containers clearly marked with the contents.
We quickly opened all the containers and sat down for lunch.
I started with the Paneer Tikka and the Bharwan Aloo . The Paneer tikka was delicious, soft and melt in the mouth satisfied all of my cravings. The masala was just right- not too spicy and the onion and the capsicum was crunchy. oh yummmm! I just wanted more and more of the Paneer tikka.
The Bharwaan aloo, another favourite, was cooked well and was stuffed with a slightly sweet filling which again hit the right spots. The filling was made up of peas, cashews, coriander and a lot of other ingredients I couldn't identify at that point because I was busy gobbling it up.
The Paneer kadhai and the Dal makhani was my main course, The lachcha parantha with the paneer kadhai was the perfect combination. The Paneer slighly spicy and the Dal makhani to neutralise the taste along with soft paranthas just made my day! The Paneer Kadhai would've probably been just a teeny bit better without the excess oil.
Ambika opened her containers and started with the Galauti Kebab, Mutton seekh kebab and the Chicken Banno kebab. You could see her smiling with joy and gorging on the yummy proteins.
The Gakauti kebab was soft, tender and melted in the mouth. The Banno kebab was somewhat like a Malai tikka but was creamy, sweet and scrumptious. The Mutton seekh kebab, which she left for last (she usually leaves the stuff she loves the most for last, so I am assuming that the Mutton seekh was her favourite) was tasty, well cooked and spicy, just the way she likes it.
After the amazing starters and my awesome paneer kadhai, Ambika opened the container with the Mutton Rara. Ambika loves mutton and it was easy to see that she was a little disappointed when she saw tooo much oil in the container. Hoping that the taste of the dish would blow her away, and stuffed with the amazing starters, she helped herself to a small portion of the Mutton rara.
Ambika usually likes mutton when it is falling off the bones . She says that some people would say that she likes mutton that is over cooked. So for her, the Mutton Rara was not falling off the bone cooked but was not undercooked either. The gravy was spicy and tasted really good with a dash of lime.
We finished the meal with a glass of chilled Sugarcane juice (which was also delivered by Khaaja Chowk) .
You must definitely try Khaaja chowk for the delectable starters and the delicious main course.
