Cafe Public Connection, CP

Cafe Public Connection is the new kid on the block in CP which takes private dining and themes to a whole new level. The restaurant itself is divided into an indoor seating area and an outdoor seating area. The indoor seating area is further divided into private dining areas, each with a separate theme , and a common seating area with a general theme.
The outdoor seating area is set up quite well and has a brilliant view of the majestic Indian flag.
The separate private dining areas are for groups of 8-10 people and each of them have different themes.

The themes of the private dining spaces are - Hollywood ,Sports, Retro, Luxury & Industrial.
The menu is quite extensive and elaborate and is also based on each of the themes of the private dining areas. The drinks are quite expensive but beer is reasonably priced and a pint of Kingfisher costs INR 90.

We were seated in the Hollywood themed area and were served the drinks in no time. We tried the Energy Sipper No. 2 , Hello Jamaica and The Charlie Chaplin cocktail.
The Energy sipper which was made of white Rum, Gin and Orgeat topped with Lime Gatorade and Club Soda was a little too sweet for my liking but was tasty.
Hello Jamaica made of white rum, dark rum, pineapple pulp, cardamom, ginger ale and lemonade was slightly bitter but flavourful.
The Charlie Chaplin cocktail which consisted of Apricots, Brandy and London Dry Gin was my favourite.

Moving on to the starters, we first tried the Lasooni Chicken Malai tikka. The chicken was tender, creamy and well cooked with a slight hint of garlic.

The Paneer in the Paneer chatpata tikka was soft and moist and not chewy like it is usually in other restaurants. It was marinated well also also cooked to perfection.

The Tandoori fish Kali Mirch which was served on a piece of toasted bread was also well cooked. The fish itself was quite bland and not seasoned very well . To be very honest, the piece of toasted bread placed below really did not serve any purpose .

The Chicken Satay served next was a delight to our taste buds. Tender and juicy chicken marinated in spices, served on skewers and topped with a gorgeous peanut sauce just hit the spot!

Dahi ke kebabs which was served next was tooo good. The curd filling was luscious and creamy and the amount of spices were just right. The kebab just melted in the mouth and is definitely one of those vegetarian dishes that any non vegetarian would happily feast on.

The Cold mezze platter which consisted of thin flat bread with Hummus, baba ganoush, muhamarra, tzatziki and tabbouleh turned out to be quite a pleasant surprise. The Tzatziki was light and creamy and the Hummus was well seasoned and had the right amount of good quality olive oil.

The Lamb seekh kebab and the fish fingers were quite a disappointment. The Seekh kebab was not seasoned very well and was quite dry and the fish fingers had a very thick coating of bread crumbs which just washed down the taste of the fish.

The Chilly prawns were my favourite. Tender, well cooked prawns with a crisp coating tossed in a delicious sauce served with crunchy peppers and onions. It was the dish of the day.
After the Chilly Prawns, the Sumac Spiced chicken with hummus and Pita certainly seemed less spicy but was flavourful and delectable.

The Pepperoni pizza which was served next was the last of what we could eat. Crispy and thin pizza base topped with a delicious sauce, oodles of cheese and pepperoni was scrumptious. Personally, I think the amount of pepperoni on the pizza was quite less but the taste of the pizza made up for the lack of pepperoni.
As there is always room for dessert, and only one dessert is on the menu, we just had to try the Brownie with Vanilla Ice cream. Who would not love a soft, gooey and chocolatey brownie topped with a luscious ice cream. It was the perfect end to the evening.
The staff was very courteous and polite and the service was impeccable. The starters were brought out at a speed which was far greater than the speed with which we were devouring the food laid out in front of us.

The restaurant itself is quite spacious and with the high ceilings and the open spaces is quite roomy. The individual dining areas are quite large and can easily accommodate 10-12 people. You must visit Cafe Public Connection for great cocktails and good food whenever you are in CP the next time.
