Cherry Comet, DLF Cyber City

Nitrogen frozen ice cream joints are very popular these days. But little do people know that Cherry Comet was one of the first(or may be the first) outlet that started preparing Nitrogen frozen Ice creams in Delhi.

Cherry Comet has been at Cyber Hub for the past 2 years and has recently opened up another outlet at Sangam Courtyard. Their USP - the ice cream is not pre packed or frozen, does not have any added preservatives and is prepared right when you order it.

The outlet at Cyber Hub, as Rohan(one of the Co founders) explained, is designed in a way that it depicts a science experiment. You will see beakers filled with ice cream toppings, Test tubes filled with sauces and tubes which supply nitrogen. Waffle cones are kept in stands that were used to hold beakers.

This is how it works - the guys at Cherry Comet prepare the ice cream base each morning with fresh ingredients which is then transported to their outlets. The same base is then used to prepare the ice cream by freezing it using liquid nitrogen right when you order it (You can see this process if you are at their outlets) . The result is creamy ice cream which does not have any icy crystals and also does not have the smell of the cardboard boxes that are usually used for packing ice creams.

Apart from the usual traditional ones , Cherry Comet offers some great flavours (some have alcohol in them too). We tried 4 of them at their Cyber Hub outlet- Belgian Bolero, Banarasi punch, Firangi Imly and Pirate Punch.

The Belgian Bolero - Rich & creamy Belgian dark chocolate ice cream which would delight any chocolate lovers taste buds.

The Banarasi Punch made of cream, Paan and meethi supari was my absolute favourite. You could almost taste the paan leaves in each bite and the Meethi supari added not only some texture but also a great flavour to the ice cream.

The Firangi Imly made of Imly topped with Aloo Bhujiya was the one flavour we have not made up our mind about. The ice cream itself had very subtle Imly chutney flavour and the Aloo Bhujiya added some crunch and a whole lot of different flavours.

The last one was the delicious Pirate Punch- a classic combination of rum, raisins and dark chocolate.

Out of the 4, we loved Belgian Bolero, Banarasi punch and the Pirate Punch. We still have not been able to make up our minds about the Firangi Imly though.
