The Classroom, Sector 29, Gurgaon

The one thing any adult dreams of is being at school again. School days were the best time of my life and I am sure that you feel the same. Going back to school at reunions brings back so many memories, most of which are happy and naughty. Memories of the time when we were carefree, when we did not care about how much money we had, when the only thing that mattered were friendships and the only motive was to get out and play and eat snacks wherever we could with whatever little money we had. How I wish we could go back to the good old times and be happy again.

The Classroom at Sector 29, Gurgaon brings back some of the school memories and is about these silent musings when we left school but our hearts remained behind.
The bar is designed like the canteen and aptly named "Ramu kaka ki canteen" . The bar on another floor is designed on the lines of the Periodic table. There are notice boards and small blackboards throughout the place. The menu is in the form of xeroxed sheets of paper and the seating is mostly in the form of benches. For those of you who prefer sofas - they have those too.

A separate section of the restaurant is dedicated to games - board games, pool, foosball, etc.

The menu is specially curated and designed by Chef Kulbeer Rana, into small and big meals satiating your hunger to keep you full just like our tiffin meals back in the day.

The Classroom introduces to the Indian market high quality hand crafted world class beers such as the traditional Abbey style St. Martin from Belgium. Their Master brewers use the highest quality of raw materials available in the market. Our grains and malts are guaranteed GMO free and are 100% traceable to the field in which they were cultivated. A mug of their brewed beer starts at INR 100!

We tried some of their cocktails before heading on to the beer that they serve.
Stand up on the Bench which is gin mixed with sweet and sour and flavoured with Elder Flower was a great start to the evening. It was neither sweet nor sour and the alcohol content was just right.

The next cocktail named Punishment which was a mix of vodka, Guava Juice, Coriander leaf, rock salt and chat masala was less of a punishment and more of a memory of eating guavas lined with rock salt and chat masala outside school. :)

The next cocktail called Out of syllabus made of Tequila, triple sec, sweet & sour Paan syrup and House brew was a pleasant surprise. It was too sweet for my liking but had a good paan flavour.

The special TCR LIIT with 5 types of spirit mixed with sweet and sour and kala khatta syrup topped up with soda was the last cocktail on the menu. The drink was slightly sweet but had great flavours.

Moving on to the food, the CMC (Classroom Maska Chicken) which is basically tandoori chicken with loads of melted butter served with roomali roti and green chutney. It was obviously delicious :)

The Cheesy kebab was the perfect blend of cheese and exotic vegetables rolled into kebabs. The kebabs were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.

The main course was by far my favourite.
The Baked three cheese mac with loads of Yellow cheddar, parmesan and mozzarella was just tooo good. It had so much cheese and was cooked to perfection.

The Paper baked basa served with herbed mashed potatoes, grilled veggies and butter sauce was the dish of the day. The fish fillets were soft, juicy, succulent and oh so good! I could have this dish every single day.

Stuffed with so much food, we did not have any space for dessert and so we have decided to come back another day to try out their desserts.
The classroom is a great place to visit while you are in Sector 29. It has great food, brewed beer and a lovely range of cocktails. You can also play a round of pool while you grab a beer.

Happy eating!
