Barcelos, Khan Market
Barcelos at Khan Market is very well known for the black and red burgers.
They established very early on that they would always bring the customers something new and they have succeeded yet again with their Salads and Sangria festival.
They have introduced 21 varieties of Sangria in their menu. Along with this they have also added a number of chicken and vegetarian salads as well.
They were kind enough to invite us at one of their events to try out their Sangrias and Salads.
The watermelon sangria, pale in colour (the base was white wine) and with a hint of fresh watermelon was the perfect start . Fruity and light on the palate, it went perfectly with the Fattoush, Pear and Chicken salad that was served next.
The Fattoush, pear and chicken salad, one of many of the chef's new creations, served with a sweet onion dressing was crispy, fresh and delicious. It was loaded with lettuce, pears, baby tomatoes, walnuts, sugar coated almonds, boiled egg, chicken and fattoush topped with the sweet onion dressing.
The next Sangria in line was the Red wine Sangria named Madeira. It was luscious, slightly sweet with a hint of grapefruit.
As we moved forward, we asked the chef for something different from the usual fruit based sangrias. We were served the Clove Sangria. Personally, I am not a big fan of cloves and so I found the infused taste of cloves and the ginger in the Sangria to be a bit overpowering and a little bitter.
We then asked tried the Asparagus salad. The salad consisted of lettuce, walnuts, tomatoes, cheese served on aspargus topped with a basil dressing. As soon as you bite into the tomato slices, flavours of cheese and the basil along with fresh tomatoes will fill your mouth . I would have never been believed that asparagus salad can also be delicious had I not tasted the one at Barcelos.
We ended the evening with the sweet and summery Peach sangria.
For those of you who are looking to try something new or for those who are not interested in a very heavy full fledged meal, the simple, flavoursome and light Salads and sangrias at Barcelos are a very good option.
