Cafe OMG, Connaught Place
For those of you who worry excessively about whether you will end
up in Heaven or Hell, a visit to Cafe OMG might give you a perspective of where
you want to go. The new restaurant by BigFish Ventures is a restaurant which
will take you to Heaven & Hell. The first floor is Heaven and the second is
Hell. Floor Heaven is decorated by angels and flying animals in the midst
of fluffy clouds and Hell was under construction when we visited.
The cocktails and mocktails are a must try at Cafe OMG. They have
specially curated cocktails which you will not find anywhere else in the city.
The Tangerine, Passion Fruit, Adams Apple and Forbidden fruit are cocktails
where in small sugar balls are blown up and filled with the choice of cocktail
after which you are to break the sugar ball with the tiny hammer. As the ball
breaks, the sugar dissolves slowly in the cocktail to add a wee bit of
sweetness to the very potent drink.
Another one that we tried was the upside down Tulip. This is
basically a cocktail which is served in an inverted glass. The thing that stops
the cocktail from flowing out of the glass is a thick layer of jelly which is
packed on the top of the glass. This again was an interesting drink.
Cafe OMG has also given a new twist to the shots they serve. The
shots are served with a balloon which is blown up by the dry ice served with
the shot. By the time the shot reaches your table the balloon is filled with so
much air that it pops on its own and give you your shot.
If the cocktails are innovative, why leave the mocktails behind?
The mocktails at Cafe OMG are served with edible flowers.
Our favourite mocktail was the Pan flavoured mocktail.
Since it was a bloggers meet and we arrived really late, we were
not able to try too many starters. We tried the Tandoori Soya Chaap and it was
delicious.
The prawn and sesame toast which arrived next was also tasty but
was very oily.
The Mushroom Galauti kebabs were soft, flavourful and
delicious.
The Tandoori chicken bruschetta was spicy and slightly dry but was
appetizing.
The main course was laid out as a buffet and each and every dish
was well prepared and flavourful.
We hope that heaven and hell serve cocktails and food as good as Cafe OMG!
Happy eating!
